Sammy and Ali are childhood friends. They have taken joint decisions in life, right from choosing a school to taking up a career. Even though they are not like-minded, they are together because they rely heavily on each other - two bodies, one soul. Sammy is an eccentric boy, high-spirited and has an uncanny knack of finding humor in the weirdest of situations. He's generous, compassionate yet impulsive. He is like a kid who needs to fall to learn how to walk. Ali on the other hand is quieter and more mature.

Heroes is the story of these two boys who travel a thousand miles to deliver three letters as a part of their film school assignment. But little do they know that the journey they have embarked upon will give a new meaning to their life. They discover the power within themselves to change lives and events that are of importance. Heroes emphasizes on the simple experiences that can awaken feelings of patriotism. A fun road trip for two boys and a series of experiences that finite emotions that have never been experienced before, this is the underlying crux of the film. Eddie Izzard has revealed that a film version of the TV show THE RICHES is in the works. The Brit comedian revealed to the BBC that a movie of the now canceled TV show is on the way.
"We've had the meeting and the writers are going to go off and slam out a story," Izzard told the BBC.
"We're going to raise money like Barack Obama through the internet, and we're going to shoot it guerilla-style."

Bourne to roll at Universal again

Universal have signed a whopping deal with Robert Ludlum's Ludlum Entertainment which will give the studio exclusive rights to the Jason Bourne character and first look at other Ludlum novels.

A fourth film in the Bourne series is planned with Matt Damon returning to the role of Bourne and Paul Greengrass stepping back behind the camera. According to Variety, the film will be readied for a summer 2010 release.

The Bourne movies have made over $1 billion at the worldwide box-office since the first film's release back in 2002.

That lovely man Will Smith who starred in the fantastic I AM LEGEND, and that even lovelier man Steven Spielberg, who is in fact a LEGEND have hired I AM LEGEND co-writer Mark Protosevich to work on the script for their planned collaboration, the remake of the Korean film OLD BOY.

Now, I cannot believe that these two are actually tackling this project (I'm talking about the original film's subject matter, and absolutely shocking ending). I'm just really hoping that they down PG-13 it up. Hard R boys, hard R!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Smith invited Protosevich to meet with Spielberg on the project, which is being looked after by Dreamworks.

50 Cent joins British gangster flick

Curtis Jackson, or in monetary terms 50 Cent, is heading towards British shores to star in Alex de Rakoff's London set gangsta film DEAD MAN RUNNING. The flick started shooting today apparently, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

How about this for a cast? Fiddy is going to be starring alongside East End Danny Dyer, his mate and THE BUSINESS co-star Tamer Hussan (who by the way is a loverly loverly man), Oscar magnet Brenda Blethyn and Monet Mazur, who starred in Rolling Stones film STONED.

The film, according to the trade paper, centers on an ex-con trying to go straight who is given 24 hours to raise 100,000 pounds ($150,000) to pay off Jackson's loan shark or become a "dead man running." The mission takes him from the dog tracks of East London to the underground drug scene of rural Manchester as they try every trick and scam in the book to get the cash before it's too late.

Get this. English soccer stars Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole are acting as executive producers on the film. Not acting. Thank goodness.

Get this straight. Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham are not gay. They are just happy pretending to be bed partners. In the endeavour they pull put all stops and get into the gay zone with a gusto that stumps all the moralists.

There are butt-and-bum jokes galore some even pointed at the leading lady. But hold that frown. Auntyji, chill. It's all for fun. Wanna join in?The theme of heterosexual characters pretending to be gay to get a precious abode in the bustle of the metropolis is pretty cool.Bachchan and Abraham, both in full form, get into the gay groove without going over the top.

They come out with flying colours through most of the material that's provided to them to sink their teeth into. While John combines terrific body language with some great comic timing (he's come a long way from his thanda GaramMasala days) Abhishek's expressions are a scream in their pitch-perfection.

One of the most brilliantly-written sequences orchestrates all the characters of this gay-play in the same room. There're the play-acting gay protagonists, a gay magazine editor (a flawlessly wimpy Boman Irani), a gay marriage-bureau official (who just decides to drop in for a quick –check) and of course Abhishek's homophobic mother (Kirron Kher) who screams and rants and then accepts her son's apparent sexual preference.

You could simply marvel at the two principal actors giving so much of heart and others parts to their parts. After a point you're tempted to stop counting the number of times the word 'gay' gets in the way of the narrative. From 'Mera beta gay hai' (courtesy Abhishek's mom Kirron Kher) to a 'Han main gay hoon' …. Dostana wins the how-to-say-gay-in-every-which-way award of the year. Sandwiched between the two brilliantly-poised heroes is Priyanka Chopra, glowing like a 1000-watt bulb in her immaculate wardrobe (and out of it…she too gets into beachwear, what did you think?).

So here's the bottom (oops!) line. Hindi cinema finally comes out of the closet. And going by how little John Abraham wears in most of the film. There's very little coming out of the closet.But there you have it. Bollywood's first beach-bum-chum meri-dosti-mera-pyar dildo-dil-lo preparation done on that slow-burn state of leisurely cooking where the characters get an ample chance to extend the parameters of the conventional cinema without toppling into the abyss of overstatement.

First-time writer-director Tarun Mansukhani has the zing thing in his vision. Miami shot with fetching gusto by Aynanka Bose lifts the luscious locales to more than a touristic paradise. The desi characters seem to belong to this beachside paradise.

There's something to be said about this sensitive slice-of-life cinema. And it's this. You really can't keep a good man down.

Returning to the ambit of the dull workingclass protagonist that he almost patented in Bheja Fry Vinay Pathak delivers yet another bravura performance as a man who learns to live only when he learns he has to die.

The premise done to death (pun intended) in films as disparate as Akira Kurosawa's Ikuru and Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Anand, gets its power and glory from the simple yet never simplistic narrative that grows on you… piece by piece….just as the lessons of life creep up belatedly on our hero Amar Kaul.

With every dying day he lives a little more of that life he leaves behind. Though the film's leisurely pace doesn't quite capture the urgency of the moment, Dusvidaniya scores high point for its sincerity of performance reflected in every performance.

The narrative has been patterned prettily as a pastiche of ten episodes each dealing with a facet of Amar Kaul's life that he would like to retrieve from the archives of angst and claim as his own before he's gone. The pace often drops to a willowy whisper.

The tone gets predominantly stifled. The narration is constantly hushed, never rushed even as the shuffling, procrastinating hero speeds through things in his pending file that he needs done before he's through with life.

The beauty and harmony of life's essential core is obtained in passages of relaxed rumination and casual conversations that show us where we often go wrong in our daily dealings. This is done without wagging a dispproving finger at the audience.Vinay Pathak gets the sur of the tragic hero's comic escapades just right. He's partly Charlie Chaplin, and partly Robert Benigni. But finally this is an actor who does his own thing. Make no mistake about that. Helping him in his endeavour are like-minded friends like Rajit Kapur, Neha Dhupia, Ranvir Shorey, Sarita Joshi and Gaurav Gera all pitching in with transparently- sincere performances. There is not one faked moment in Dasvidaniya.

You may feel portions of the film (like the Kailesh Kher number Mumma) are manipulative in their intentions. But that's life. You win some. You lose most of it. Kudos to Pathak for making another winner out of another incorrigible loser's story.

Along the way, Bolt teams up with a jaded housecat named Mittens (Susie Essman) and a TV-obsessed hamster named Rhino (Mark Walton) that also happens to be an extreme Bolt fanboy, and eventually he discovers that he doesn't need superpowers to be a hero.

Babylon AD

Vin Diesel, queerly named Toorop in this bleak futuristic story, is the mercenary reluctantly transporting a young woman Aurora [Melanie Thierry] and her loyal guardian, a nun [Michelle Yeoh] with an expertise in martial arts! Toorop escorts these two women as they travel from chaotic Russia to the Promised Land - New York. During the course of the movie we, along with Toorop, discover that Aurora is pregnant with twins who are of utmost spiritual significance, and hence there are battalions of people that Toorop and the nun have to fight before they reach New York.
The movie starts off with some rather disturbing and sombre imagery of the world in the future - hopeless and weary - reminiscent of the Children of Men. But just as you get set to be blown away with something as profound, the storyline starts to twist and turn, and confuse you. Coming from Mathieu Kassovitz, director of La Haine, the lucid urban melodrama and Gothika, a contorted horror flick, it does not surprise us that his visuals for the script at hand are quite out of the ordinary. Not exactly extraordinary, but not repulsive either.
Babylon AD is not a movie that would bore you, but it could certainly tire you. Kassovitz takes us through long endless minutes of chases on land and underwater - against fierce fighters and rains of bullets. And then, all of a sudden, the movie ends. Just when you think Kassovitz was about to explain what exactly is the spiritual significance of the unborn twins - are they carriers of religious truths or something else - the movie comes to a close. An open ending, you could say.

Changeling

Quarantine

A strange virus is spreading through the building, infecting individuals and turning them into vicious bloodthirsty beings. Angela and the firemen soon discover that the building has been quarantined by the government and that the only exit has been blocked. They have to find a way out before the virus gets them all. Ferris plans to infiltrate Al-Saleem's terrorist network and seeks the help of Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe), his boss in Langley. Ferris rather unwillingly and apprehensively enlists the help of Hani Salaam (Mark Strong), Chief of Jordanian Intelligence, in this operation. Given Salaam's rather suspicious demeanour, Ferris is not sure how far he can trust Salaam without putting his own life in danger. This estranges the relationship between the two men, and leads several to head-on clashes.
Does Ferris win over the evil he is combating? We are going to have to wait for the movie to hit theatres to find out!

The Haunting of Molly Hartley

Soul Men

Fast forward 20 years, Hooks has died, and Louis and Floyd, who did not end on good terms and have not spoken since, have been coerced into appearing a tribute show for Hooks at New York’s famed Apollo Theatre. Afraid to fly, they get in Floyd’s 1971 Cadillac El Dorado, accompanied by a talented young woman (Sharon Leal) who may be Floyd’s daughter. Along the way they try to get their act up to speed by appearing in various redneck honky tonks, filling the interminable 103-minute running time with a lot of unfunny sexual encounters and unbelievable situations.

After a brief flashback prologue where we see how the young lion Alex (Ben Stiller) is separated from his father Zuba (Bernie Mac), inadvertently ending up in the Big Apple, the story returns to present day as our favorite New York zoo denizens prepare to take off from Madagascar in a crudely constructed airplane, piloted by the penguins and propelled by slingshot. Unfortunately for Alex, lovelorn giraffe Melman (David Schwimmer), fast talking zebra Marty (Chris Rock) and svelte hippo Gloria (Jada Pinkett-Smith), instead of landing in NYC, the aircraft sputters and crash lands right in the middle of Africa, where they run into a world of exotic creatures. This also includes Alex’s long lost dad and mom. Happy reunion? Not quite. Zuba’s nemesis Mukunga (Alec Baldwin) insists they follow lion pride lore, which means Alex must go through a rite of passage -- one he is sure to fail if Mukunga has his way. Meanwhile, Marty tries to integrate into a pack of zebras; Gloria gets hooked up with a soulful hippo (will.i.am); and Melman is up to his neck looking for love. Oh, and they also all have to save the Kenya preserve from a life-threatening water shortage. No biggie!

Slumdog Millionaire

By the time we get to Jamal’s appearance on the game show, it’s clear he has learned what really counts, as the tension-driven sequences has him answering questions at a furious pace by the dubious quizmaster (Anil Kapoor).
